Prison Happy Hour

Did you read our story about prison rehabilitation programs in Italy?

Well here’s another story about inmates in Italy – this time about happy hour organized for female inmates in Milan’s San Vittore prison.

HappyHour

According the the Italian new agency, ANSA, the staff of the jail organized twice per week happy hour for the female inmates, complete with catering, alcohol, and outside guests.

However, these events have sparked the disapproval of Osapp, the prison guards’ union, which has sent a complaint to both the Ministry of Justice and the Senate president. The union has called into question both the costs and profits of the venture, asking for “urgent clarification” from the Italian authorities.

However, the deputy director of Italy’s prison service (Dap), said he requested more information, but that in general organizing such events was not unusual.
