Happy Positive Thinking Day!

Today is all about attitude, a POSITIVE ATTITUDE! But this is just a reminder of how we should approach life all 365 days a year, because the power of positive thinking is absolutely astounding.

Medical research confirms that a positive attitude works wonders at fighting disease and ailments, from the common cold to cancer. Personally, we from Prison Call Deals believe that people with an “I think I can” attitude, are far more likely to succeed at work, and in accomplishing every goal they set in life.

There are a lot of ways that a positive approach to life can contribute to the quality of life in jail or a prison. Numerous studies show just how much the power of positive thought can be a motivating factor in transforming people behind bars. In fact, we have already brought you several stories that confirm this.

We came across an interesting article in Huffington Post about program “Paws for life”, a fist one in California that takes place in a high-security prison with inmates serving life sentences. It is a good example of a positive approach to inmates and we couldn’t resist writing about it!

Also, Lionheart prison program is a great example on how a positive approach to education, rehabilitation and reentry support to incarcerated men and women in prisons and jails throughout the United States can be beneficial!  At the heart of this initiative is a powerful emotional literacy program, Houses of Healing. Corrections professionals report that Houses of Healing is the most effective program they have seen for prisoner growth and transformation.

This program offers prison inmates encouragement and the necessary support to take stock of their life experiences, those that have propelled them into criminal activity, to take responsibility for their criminal behavior, change life-long patterns of violence and addiction, and build productive lives.

A positive approach can change sleep patterns, increase self-esteem, help you come up with the alternatives to violent behavior and practically solve conflicts. We are not just saying that – the Prison S.M.A.R.T. program has actually done research after implementing their strategies and those changes were evident. This program can make a life transforming difference in the lives of all people within the criminal justice system. They are doing that by teaching skills of reducing stress, healing trauma and providing practical knowledge on how to handle emotions and help inmates live up to their highest potential and contribute to society.

As you can see, all these programs are examples of positive thinking done right! But there are a lot of things you can do outside any program, as an individual, to improve every situation, even as hard as having a loved one in prison.

So we will conclude this article with the quote of the day: “It takes just a moment to change your attitude. And, in that quick moment, you can change your entire day.” (Unknown)

Have a happy Positive Thinking Day!
